Blog: Heads Up!
24 October 2014
Welcome to the all-new Headstart4Babies blog!
We've been contemplating creating a blog for a while, and now we have the best possible reason! Our fabulous trustee Sally Laflin has managed to secure a place in next year's London Marathon and has very kindly agreed to raise money for Headstart.
The blog is not intended purely to feature Sally's training for, and completion of, the world's greatest marathon, as we will also be sharing our news and success stories from parents whose babies have been treated. If you have any ideas, articles or images to feature, please drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll include them here, on our Facebook page and – if possible – in our email newsletter.
And so to Sally. What an achievement to make it in to the field, and what a commitment to help us boost our fundraising. We've all agreed that it'll be an interesting journey. But we're in no doubt that it'll be utterly inspiring, so the blog will feature regular updates from Sally on her training, preparation and fundraising. We'll also try to include some photos (if she allows us to!) and even some video diary clips.
To kick us off, here are Sally's initial thoughts:
"As I'm running to help raise funds for Headstart, Philip and I thought it would be a good idea to keep a diary to let you all know how my marathon training is coming on. I'm not quite brave enough to show my face (or any other part of me!) just yet, but I thought I would update you on the beginning of my journey. I'm not a complete novice to marathons, having taken part in six power walks, but I am a bit of a non-runner! I applied, thinking that there was no way I would be successful in the ballot first time around, but how wrong was I! After buying lots of shiny new gear I've started my plan in earnest, clocking up a small but respectable four miles. I intend to do the same again, and hope then to add on a mile a week. In due course I will set up a JustGiving page associated with Headstart in case you'd like to sponsor me. All the best, Sally x"
